We will start today a series of articles on GDPR, in which we will outline the main aspects that you need to know and which you must take into account in implementing the provisions of this Regulation for the correct running of the business.

In this first article in the series, we will make a brief introduction to the topic.

Starting from 25 May 2018, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of individuals regarding the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data (GDPR) will be applied in all Member States of the European Union.

The Regulation introduces novelties regarding:

  • Consent of individuals whose personal data are processed.
  • Obligations of personal data operators.
  • Obligation of certain operators to name a Data Protection Officer (“DPO”).
  • Imposing significant administrative fines for people violating the provisions of the Regulation.
